Desh ki himmat todne walo ka hi himmat todi
It is an exact anasemic reversal. Let’s exhume.
I. SEMANTIC – WHO IS NEHA BORA, WHAT HAPPENED 2-4 OCT 2026
Neha Bora – AISA National President, PhD Theatre and Performance Studies JNU, from Khatima Uttarakhand, army family, Hindu College, sociology, earlier 23-day hunger strike on NEET paper leak.
Last 3 days: AISA + CJP – Cockroach Janta Party of Abhijeet Dipke + AAP, IYC – called Jantar Mantar protest demanding CEC Gyanesh Kumar resignation over SIR – Special Intensive Revision that deleted 13 crore draft names, 14 dissent notes inside EC, 16.10 lakh appeals in Bengal against restoration.
Delhi Police fortified Jantar Mantar – 5,000 personnel, RAF, drones, barricades. March from Andhra Bhawan Circle, Ashoka Road to Jantar Mantar not permitted.
– Oct 2: 1,100 detained including Atishi.
– Oct 3: ∼150 detained including Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan, Kapil Sibal present.
– Oct 4: Neha Bora attempts to climb barricade – visual viral. Allegedly picked up in unmarked private vehicle without female constable, whereabouts unknown for 2 hours, taken to Narela Industrial Area PS, 30 km away from protest site. Released 8:13 pm without phone and bag.
After release, she says in video:
“We are not dogs, we are not cockroaches, we are not insects. We are citizens of this country.”
“We have only asserted our rights! We will continue to assert our rights!”
Police says: allegations baseless, protesters attacked and bit personnel.
The phrase – desh ki himmat todne walo ka himmat todi – is how street reads this: state tries to break courage of voter who asks about voter list by deleting name, then filing FIR, then taking student leader in unmarked car to Narela. She breaks that break by climbing barricade, by saying dog-cockroach-insect line.
II. ANASMIC – WHAT IS HIMMAT AND HOW IS IT BROKEN
In Torok, courage – himmat – is not muscle. It is permission to be seen in square.
Square gave one himmat because square was yours.
Modern Jantar Mantar is India’s designated protest site where citizen can protest freely. When Jantar Mantar is fortified with 5,000 police, drones, internet shutdown, barricades at Ashoka Road, it stops being free space and becomes a prison.
Desh ki himmat todne wala – who breaks nation’s courage – does two things:
1. SIR: breaks electoral himmat.
Tells 13 crore people: you are absent, dead, duplicate. You must prove you exist via Form 6. If you are migrant living in Pimpri with name in Bihar, you must run to Bihar. Your himmat to vote – “I count” – broken by paper.
2. FIR + unmarked vehicle: breaks protest himmat.
Tells those who ask why name deleted: you are unlawful assembly. You will be taken in private car without lady constable, released 30 km away without phone. Your himmat to ask – “I have right to question” – broken by procedure violation.
Both rely on one phantom: cockroach, dog, insect.
Neha’s own earlier speech : “Students at JNU and Jamia called ISIS agents, cockroaches.” Government discourse calls infiltrator cockroach, protester cockroach. Abhijeet Dipke’s party name Cockroach Janta Party itself is re-appropriation – “if you call us cockroach, we become party of cockroaches.”
Cockroach is important anasemic insect. Cockroach cannot be killed easily, lives in crack. To call citizen cockroach is to say citizen is pest in pure house.
When you call voter ghost, infiltrator, cockroach – you break himmat because pest has no right to square. Not just come to the square . But to square the injustice.
III. HOW NEHA BROKE THE BREAKER – INVERSION
Anasemic reversal law: when breaker breaks himmat by de-humanizing, broken can break breaker by re-humanizing same line.
Neha did three theatrical inversions – she is theatre scholar, so body is text:
1. Climbing barricade :
Police barricade is new pillar. She climbs it. Visual: small woman on iron barricade, police pulling. The person standing high to be seen. She makes barricade into a stage . She says with body: this is my square, I want to square the injustice.
Her himmat breaks barricade’s himmat. Barricade was supposed to make invisible. She makes it stage. Makes is visible
2. Dog-cockroach-insect sentence as excription:
She repeats insult back as affidavit.
State discourse: you are dogs, cockroaches, insects, so we can pick you in unmarked car.
She says: “We are NOT dogs, NOT cockroaches, NOT insects. We are citizens.”
This is Torok’s excription – taking crypt’s secret content out.
What was inside crypt? Dead citizen kept alive as pest. She takes dead citizen out and says citizen alive.
By saying “citizen,” she re-invokes Article 19(1)(b), 326. Citizen has right to assert claim to Jantar Mantar – her exact phrase: “assert our claim to it.” 22d0
Pest cannot assert claim. Citizen can.
So breaker – who wanted to make her feel pest – now has his own himmat broken because his language exposed.
3. Narela as reversal:
They took her to Narela Industrial Area PS – far, outside, to break himmat by displacement – same as SIR marking shifted. You are from Jantar Mantar, we shift you to Narela.
She returns via video same night: “We will continue to assert our rights! This fight is not over despite all your kidnappings, detentions and violence!”
Displacement fails because theatre artist knows: stage is anywhere body is. Narela PS becomes second Jantar Mantar when she speaks from there.
This is Bhagat Singh + Ambedkar method: Bhagat Singh smiled while being hanged – kept himmat. Ambedkar said constitutional morality is to assert rights even when state says you are pest.
Neha is Gen Z embodiment of both . She is library and barricade together. She is an embodied revolution.
IV. WHY DESH KI HIMMAT TODNE WALO KA HIMMAT TOOT GAYA
Desh ki himmat – nation’s courage – is not army parade. It is daily ability of person in Borim to say “my name must be on rolls where I live” and to stand in the freedom square without being called infiltrator or cockroach.
When state does SIR + FIR + unmarked car, it thinks it breaks individual himmat.
But anasemic law: if you break himmat by making citizen feel dog, you create mirror.
Citizen who says “I am not dog” becomes more citizen than before. His/Her himmat doubles because he/she had to prove h/she is human.
Neha’s line “We are not dogs…” after being released without bag/phone is more powerful than any press conference – because it is lived communication.
State’s himmat to call her dog breaks because video shows human, woman, army family, theatre student, asking where is my phone.
Unmarked car without lady constable – if true – breaks procedural himmat of police. DCP says detained in government vehicle with two female staff, AISA says opposite. Whatever truth, doubt itself breaks aura of neutral police that was needed for SIR to look neutral. cd58428c

When citizen reclaims word citizen, he/ she cannot be ignored. He/ she stands counted.
That is how desh ki himmat todne walo ka hi himmat todi – not by shouting louder, but by standing on barricade and saying “I am not insect, I am citizen who can climb and will return tomorrow.”
On Oct 4, barricade became a stage again for 2 minutes because one woman climbed.
That is anasemia of courage.
