The Coming of the Society of Death

If we look at an individual as a self-produced subject , what is left is not community but totalitarianism that is mistaken as a humanism. If we wish to overcome the difference by the same, there can only be one all-encompassing reality. This makes the assemble a metaman and as such is a dead person. It is akin to two lovers who commit suicide to share a totally immanent life. This is why a massified and made ‘same’ Indians, especially the Hindu subject of the coming Hindu Rashtra can only be a singularity where the individual is sacrificed on the altar of community which itself is a dead reality. It maybe be called the communion of dead lovers. The death of the individual Hindu ( Indian) subject appears to be the founding work of utopia we call Hindu Rashtra. The quest for a pure community, an appetite without limits grounded in the casteist thirst seems to firing it . Ideal pure community is a community of ‘same to same’. It puts every one under erasure. Every individual is castrated cannot become oneself, but has to produce his/her subjecthood in the image an likeness of the same measured by the standards of Hindutva. Such a subjectivation of the subject is totalitarian. The dialectics of recognition that produces this subject does not leave room for any shade otherness both within every individual as well as their aggregation that is greeted as the Hindu Rashtra.

There cannot be alterity but only the regime of the same or a totalitarian singularity. This means death is turned into a means of living. Every individual who is marked by otherness or alterity has to erase that otherness and has to become an Hindividual marked by the sameness identified by the standards of Hindutva. Hindividual is thought to be an Indian whose immunity cannot be questioned. Such an immunological thinking thinks that a Hindividualized community has to enact the sameness of Hindunesss as a result all otherness is thought to be diseased and disposable. This is why the Hindividual and Hindividualized community have to compose itself by decomposing all otherness within itself and outside itself. This means a Hindividual has his/her life and being in the privation of otherness that is thought to be a stain that contaminates the regime of the same that rules him/ her. One has to enact a subjecthood that lives under an illusion that his/her subjecthood is constantly shattered by the presence of otherness. Hence, a Hindividual can only compose himself/ herself only by decomposing all traces of otherness within and without. This composing oneself by decomposing traces of otherness becomes the play of life and being of the Hindividual and the Hindividualized community. The erasure of all traces of otherness both within and without is possible only by absenting ones difference and that of the other. In such a society one cannot even live by the side of himself/herself. This is why such a society is a society of death.

The coming of the Hindividual in our society has set in necro-politics . Necro-politics administrates death. It tries to assume power that will rule who is to live and who is to die. Unfortunately, Hindutva is a necro-politics. One has to die to one’s unique otherness to participate in the Hindividualized society. It challenges the Hindividual to put death to work. Everyone has to die to himself/herself. This means one cannot even live besides oneself. This suggests that one has to constantly live with the presence of an absence that marks our very being. We are marked by otherness to the core of our selves. This presence of an absence haunts Hindutva and the Hindividual. It is this sense of the presence of an absence ( compulsion to absent otherness) is the foundation of Hindutva as an ideology. The Hindividual has to live the death of the other (presence of an absence) as a relation of death without dying. But the Hindividual cannot escape the unique difference that marks his/her life and being. It is only that one has to delude oneself that the other is not in the self and enact the extermination of the other from without thinking that it is the way of exterminating the other from within.

The Hindividual is disabled from discovering the unknown within himself and herself. He/ she may not be able to meet one’s own solitude or live by the side of oneself. The inner experience requires the encounter with otherness that is residing at the core of our being. ‘ I’ has an other at the core. It has a life cut off from the Egos of the community. This is why Hindividual that cancels the other in the ‘I’ loses himself or herself. A community is made of ‘I’s who are others and not of Egos who are same. Hence, Hindividualization of our society is heading towards disaster. A society that tries to build itself on the work of death becomes a dying society. We have not just stepped in a society of banality of evil, we seem to have taken an express way to the society death. A society that makes inner intimate experience impossible is a society of death. Ecstasy is not lasting. We need intimacy. It is intimacy that ignites ecstasy. Often we might we led by a fantasy of an ecstasy. Perhaps, our society has come under such a fantasy.
